About the Author

My name is Mark Lewis, a native Georgian and Virgina lover. I have lived and worked throughout SEGA for most of my adult life, married in 2005 to my industrious and talented wife Marie, and father to my two ever-evolving kids, Evie and Gideon. The life path I chose was to become a full-time vocational minister. My education began with a Bachelor’s Degree in Christianity from Brewton-Parker College in Mount Vernon, Georgia and ended with a Master of Divinity from the Baptist Theological Seminary in Richmond, VA. For 22 years, I served as a minister in churches in Georgia and Virginia. My current career seeks to use and develop the hard and soft skills I have gained as a minister.

During the fall of 1998, I got my first computer and thus began my love-hate relationship with Windows PCs, mobile computing devices, and the internet. The development of the mobile phone and social media as we know it today, would come slowly, and my interest in those would follow. I cannot tell you how many handheld devices, tablets, computers, or cell phones I have owned. Needless to say, it was a LOT. During this time, pastoring was my primary focus and learning how to minister to my congregation and community. As a result, my computing devices became my constant companions.

The top skills that developed throughout my ministry were writing, public speaking, computer, and internet research. A smattering of other skills and interests, such as social media, some web development, photography, and others, developed. After 2013, I developed an interest in woodworking/minor carpentry and have built several practical items and gifts for my family and friends. I now have a more developed creative streak because of the wood working than before. Despite my two left thumbs, I always look forward to creative something. I often lean toward reusing reclaimed or reuse lumber that people have thrown out. This always creates a steep learning curve because you can’t buy everything. Sometimes you must improvise.

Despite my sudden massive career change in 2013, I will always have a deep love for my Savior and Lord Jesus Christ, the ministry, and preaching. I attend church regularly and often speak to people about life from a minister’s perspective. This is fun and exciting for me. Maybe a time will come where I will serve as a pastor again, but until that time, I will focus on writing.

My focus as a writer is on this webpage. You will find devotions, sermons, poems, reviews, stories and personal rants. (Yes, I am willing and able to write articles that have nothing to do with Jesus.) Somewhere in the mix and on the fringes, you will find some marketing and advertising. I didn’t get involved in this aspect of the internet and social media until VERY late, but I’m here wading in the shallow end, learning how to swim. Hopefully, my more developed skills and experience will help forge the keys that will unlock those opportunities.

When I am not writing or developing this website, I look after my children, help my wife with her growing event planning business, and work part-time at my local YMCA. My son and I enjoy hunting and fishing, actively learning about camping, survival skills, and disaster preparations. I hunted and fished with my father for twenty years before college took me away. I have looked forward to teaching my son everything I have learned from Dad. And surprisingly, enough, Gideon and I have embarked on several father-son hunting trips. Squirrel and deer beware! As parents, we owe it to our children to teach them the generations’ previous lessons. I consider myself woefully inadequate, but if not me, then who? He challenges me constantly, but he learns and tries to apply those lessons.

My daughter Evie is the reading brainiac just selected for the STEM program. An avid reader, artist, splendid cook, and band member, she is my concierge and helper with life’s developing chaos. She is the most helpful soul when her focus is not on her cell phone. Despite our many similar differences, we get along, unless she’s watching anime. There are not enough earplugs to muffle the sound of her making fun of every TV show she watches.

And my beautiful wife, Marie, is an ever-evolving enigma. She is a rapid fire, go-get-em, spontaneous, creative, considerer of others. She loves to move and engage in not just the presence of others, but in their minds and hearts. She seeks to know people before she’s even met them. And after over 15 years of dabbling in developing an event planning business, she is now knee deep in it. From birthdays to horse rides with a parent stable, weddings, bridal to baby showers, she has done them all. But just like her favorite food, which is cheesecake, she can’t get enough. As her experience grows and her clientele deepens, I know she will be fabulously successful. And in a way, she already is.

This is me, in a long-winded nutshell. There are many things I have left out. Whatever those questions might be, if you have any, leave a comment. Just make it sensible and friendly. If you have any freelance inquiries, please direct them to the email address below. Thank you for your visit and be blessed!
