A news article from this week has inflamed the sense of, “This is ridiculous!”, in me once again. The USA Herald presented an article where a man forced to remove his USA flag. Here are my thoughts on this and similar situations.
My first thought was that senseless, ignorant people are taking over our country. Some people might call then weenies, but that would be a derogatory slur, which is inappropriate in an intelligent civilized debate.
My second thought is this the very same reaction of an invaded, defeated, and occupied people. A quiet passivity, that in order to survive, compels the invaded, occupied, defeated to become complacent and accepting.
So I’m wondering, when was the USA invaded, defeated, and occupied by a foreign power? Why does anyone feel compelled to live in such a mindset? This is akin to allowing someone to dump their trash in your bedroom. The USA has no reason to cower behind political correctness or develop a reactionary response to every conceivable offense.
To continue acting in such a ridiculous way, is to adopt a defeatist attitude and invite invasion. Weakness, real or perceived will bring a nation to its knees. We have no reason for rudeness, oppression, or tyranny, but neither do we need to rollover every time the patriotism, values, and heritage of the USA comes into question or offends someone.
