Without Direction

dimly lit underground maze

Lord, I am lost and without direction.
Where do I go?
What path do I take?

Lord, I do not know what to pray.
My words are hollow.
My words are meaningless.

My thoughts are jumbled.
All dark and without form.
A tattered incomplete puzzle.

My words are meaningless.
My thoughts are jumbled.
I am lost and without direction.

My hope and my joy are…
Like sand in my hands.
And water down the drain.

My soul cries out to you for help.
But my words are noisy grunts.
And my thoughts are wisps of smoke.

But you heard my soul cry to you!
From your throne, you felt my anguish.
You understood my cries for help.

You found me in the darkness.
You calmed my fears.
Lord, forgive my worry and fear.

You are my compass and guide.
Your guidance is sure and certain.
Lord, forgive me when I doubt.

You lighted my way.
You set me on the right path.
Lord, forgive me when I wander.
